Everything you log in Aftertaste — meals, check-ins, symptom ratings, notes — is stored on your own device and is never sent to us. We have no copy of it, no account system, and no way to read it.
Aftertaste runs entirely in your browser or as an installed app on your phone. Your diary is written to your device's own storage (IndexedDB). That includes:
None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up by us, and it is not readable by us. If you clear your browser's data, uninstall the app, or lose the device, that diary is gone — so use the export function and keep the file somewhere safe.
You can delete everything at any time from within the app, or by clearing site data for getaftertaste.com in your browser settings. There is nothing to ask us to delete, because we never had it.
There is no analytics of any kind in the app — not optional, not anonymous, not aggregated. It measures nothing about you and reports nothing to us.
Our web server keeps standard access logs — IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string — for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for a short period and then deleted. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the site securely (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking pixels.
Our pages load two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and your IP address is visible to them in the process. If you would rather not have that happen, a browser that blocks third-party requests will still render the site correctly in a fallback typeface.
If you install Aftertaste from Google Play, Google processes the install itself under its own privacy policy. We receive only the aggregate statistics that Play shows every developer — install and uninstall counts, countries, device types, ratings and reviews. We do not receive anything about what you log.
Aftertaste is not aimed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect anything from them — and since the app collects nothing at all, there is nothing for us to hold.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to object to processing. In practice we hold almost nothing about you: your diary never reaches us, and the optional statistics are not linked to you. If you have a question, write to [email protected].

If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your data, we will change the date at the top and describe the change in the app's release notes.
